Flip the Switch

by

I think successful adults have a switch they can flip.

When you’re with familiar friends and awesome family members, you can be yourself and act like an idiot. You can drink. Tell jokes. Reminisce about the days when you used to be young & interesting & hip. You can talk about pooping.

When you are in a work environment, you flip the switch and operate with caution because it’s important to be mature, respectful, and cognizant of other people’s feelings. You try to behave in a way that doesn’t cause too much of a ruckus. Well-adjusted adults know that it’s important to use an indoor voice and apply a filter to conversations.

And you especially flip the switch when someone is paying you to flip the switch. When it’s time to work, it’s time to work — and it’s non-negotiable.
