Happy Sunday. How was your week? Well, if you didn’t hear, Michele Bachmann won the Iowa Straw Poll and oh yeah my grandmother died and we held the services in Chicago.
It was a long week. My Gramma has been dying for years (according to her) and this time she was right. I wanted to do the eulogy and offer up prayers for her soul like Ricky Bobby in Talladega Nights.
Dear Lord Baby Jesus — lookin’ like the Campbell Soup kids with Precious Moments baby angel friends — please watch over my Gramma as she scours every corner of heaven for green Tic Tacs, reduced produce, and half-off bottles of laundry detergent.
Probably good that nobody asked me.
I’m sad but okay. Really. I’m fine. Gramma would want me to eat. So Ken and I had enchiladas on Friday and he took me to see Rise of the Planet of the Apes. What do I know about these movies? Nothing except what I’ve seen on The Simpsons.
So at the end of the movie, Ken told me about the original films. Filled in the blanks for me. I asked, “When does Charlton Heston scream, ‘Soylent Green is people!’?”
“That’s a different movie.”
Oh right. Whatever. Those old films all look the same to me.
But my review of the new Planet of the Apes? Well, it was pretty good. Better than I expected. Not boring. And once I got past James Franco as an evil art dealer, I started to enjoy it.
So that was my week. And now I’m working on blog posts about back to school clothes shopping, halloween costumes ideas, human resources jobs, and pizza hut pizones.
What’s up with you? Anything new? See any good films, this weekend? Give me the scoop.
And let’s hope for a better week.
