Try New Things at Work in 2013

Here are some new things you can try in 2013.

  • Shut up.
  • Speak up if you normally shut up.
  • Don’t send that email.
  • Stop wearing perfume.
  • Buy earphones for your office.
  • Try working from home.
  • Work hard to hire more long-term unemployed people.
  • Donate to send a kid to college.
  • Volunteer more often.
  • Ask more questions.
  • Listen better.
  • Remove barriers from your language.
  • Swear more often.
  • Swear less often.
  • Retire those ugly, comfortable shoes.
  • Quit smoking.
  • Get new glasses.
  • Go get your hearing checked.
  • Practice smiling when you talk.
  • Learn how to text.
  • Send fewer text messages.
  • Don’t sleep with your mobile phone.
  • Walk during lunch.
  • Quit mumbling.
  • Address your ongoing anxiety and depression.
  • Forgive.
  • Stop talking over people.
  • Give that guy in procurement a second chance.
  • Clean your desk.
  • Stop hitting the snooze button over and over again.
  • Turn off the lights when you leave a conference room.
  • Wash your hands more often.
  • Quit circling around the parking lot waiting for a spot close to the door.
  • Don’t listen to someone tell you that there’s a war for talent without giving you some facts to support that case.

What am I missing?
