Lance doesn’t think that HR succession planning is comparable to the 2008 campaign. This should come as no surprise, but I disagree with Lance. If ever there was a forum where personality and subjectivity come into play — much like the presidential election — it’s the talent management meeting held by your local HR Generalist.
Trust me, I’ve held my share of talent management discussions. We break out the nine-box-grid, discuss performance reviews, and then we hit the 10 AM break, eat a few donuts, and objectivity goes out the window.
